Materials and Tools Required
- 1/4" and 5/16" hex bit or flathead screwdriver
- aluminum tape
- double-sided tape or magnetic tape
- a few 1/4" hex head sheet metal screws (just in case the panel is missing screws or get lost during the install)
- T2 temperature and humidity sensor with external probe
- smart phone with cellular service
Steps
- On the HVAC unit - remove screws, pull service cut-off plug, and remove front panel to expose the blower, coils, and wiring.
- Remove the external probe from box and attach in one of three ways:
- Tape securely to any wire hanging in the middle of the unit and just before the blower.
- Hang from metal brace on the upper part of the unit
- Insert where the suction line enters the unit from the top or side (if there is room)
- If the protective rubber stopper is covering the sensor probe port, pull it out to expose the stereo jack and plug the end of the external probe into the module.
- If the T2 sensor has not been added to your account, you can add it now by following this guide.
- Test the T2's connectivity by:
- Pressing and holding the ACT button until the green LED goes from solid to flashing. Let go once the flashing starts. The LED will turn off momentarily and then flash red periodically to indicate it is waiting to hear from the Kairos Network. When the T2 has heard back from the network, its LED turns green for a few seconds. If the LED flashes blue, the module has reverted to program mode - contact Kairos at info@kairoswater.io to get a replacement unit.
- Log into your app.kairoswater.io account to verify the device has reported to the network.
- If the unit is searching for the network after more than five minutes, move the unit to another location (middle of the unit or the opposite side where you first attempted to install it) and try to connect again.
- You can force the unit to manually send its sensor status to the network by holding down the ACT button for more one second, but less than three seconds. The LED will flash blue if the probe is connected properly; and, it will flash red if the probe is not connected. You can check the information sent to the network in your account at app.kairoswater.io. If no data has been received in the time you sent the message, the device is not in range of the network. Please contact Kairos at info@kairoswater.io so that we can come out to check the network.
- Tape any loose probe wire to the side of the AC Unit to avoid getting snagged by resident or other technicians' activity.
- Re-install the AC's panel with the screws you removed and restore power by inserting the service disconnect plug.
